Halloween decorations

We started decorating for Halloween this weekend because now that I am 37 weeks and term (as of today!) we figure we better go ahead and do the decorating because she could be here any day and we really won't be focused on decorating anymore! Chris had a really cute idea to have a little "family" of pumpkins on our front porch so we got a daddy, mommy, and baby pumpkin and I painted our names on them. He had a cute idea!!!

More cute decorations!

Today Wendi came over with another little present for Mckayla that she found at Hobby Lobby. She said they had just come in and she couldn't resist getting us one for her room. After seeing it I understand why she couldn't resist it!

We hung it on the wall by her growth chart. Don't you just love it?!!! Thank you again Wendi!

Poopy diapers

We get a weekly email from for Mckayla's weekly developments and today's had a link to their site for an article about common mistakes new parents make. I decided to take a look and it was actually really funny stories from people about things that they experienced after having their baby. One of them cracked us up so much I thought I'd share it; that and I can see Chris doing this exact same thing :) Enjoy!

"I had only been home from the hospital for a couple of days and was just finishing a shower when my husband screamed for me to come to the family room. I ran in and saw our daughter, Abigail, innocently lying on a towel on the floor. My husband jumped up and ran to the bathroom, and I heard him throwing up like he had a horrible flu. He walked out a few minutes later, went into our bedroom, and came out with a gas mask on. He said he had never seen anything like that — Abby's first poop after the meconium. After that he changed her diaper with his gas mask on."— Melissa, Ohio

Mckayla's room

I feel like we finally got her room together now that we got the glider from Lacey and Brian, all I really plan on getting now are new blinds because the ones there are bent up pretty bad. We just got a really cute present in the mail today from her Uncle Chad; the little sheep rocker on the floor in the first picture. It plays music if you squeeze one ear and makes sheep 'baaa' sounds when you squeeze the other ear. It's so soft and comfy I know she'll love it and look so cute on it! Thanks again Uncle Rambo!

Couch potato

Lacey and Abbey came to visit Wednesday evening for our maternity photo shoot (or prego pics as we have been calling them) and on Thursday to help spray paint the glider she was giving us from black to white. My wonderful sister-in-law sacrificed some of her own brain cells to spray paint it for me so little Mckayla wouldn't to lose any of hers! hehe. So Abbey and I hung out inside and watched a little Dora the Explorer while she munched on her little baggie of Apple Jacks cereal. She really vegged out like this on the couch for at least 10-15 minutes!

Baby Shower

Saturday was my baby shower at my parents house and it was SO incredible! I got more gifts than you can imagine. It took me around an hour and a half to open them all and people were having to leave during it all because it was taking so long!!! The decorations and gifts were AMAZING so thank you sooooo much to Lacey, Wendi, Pam, and mom for the beyond perfect, better than I could ever imagine baby shower!

Here's some of the decorations:

This will be Mckayla's coming home from the hospital outfit her Aunt Lacey got for her:

I think she's going to be an OSU girl!

Aunt Lacey also hand made this canvas art for Mckayla. Isn't it amazing?!!!

Here's after the shower in my living room swimming in the loot! (Lacey also made that blanket in my lap. It's the same print as my diaper bag and car seat) I LOVE IT ALL!

I bought these white wood letters at Hobby Lobby a LONG time ago, before I even knew if we were having a boy or girl. I have been looking forward to decorating them and hanging them just about as much as anything else we've done for her. I had to wait for Lacey's help though because my crafting creativity is lacking. So today was the day (finally!) and Wendi stopped by to help too, it was so much fun! I would be lost without their creative genious! Her room is really coming together now!

Daddy's girl

Every night I talk to Mckayla by means of Jessi's belly and she likes to move around to the side I am talking to her on. Sometimes I read her one of our books for in utero and she likes to move around a lot when hearing the story. Makes me feel like she is already a daddy's girl! :)

Mckayla Lauren

This is our favorite picture of Mckayla from the 3D ultrasound that we got on August 4. It's like she is saying hello!
