Attempt number 2

We tried the cereal again tonight and it was about the same as last night. She really doesn't seem to mind the taste of it at all she just needs practice on how to eat off the spoon. Plus daddy distracting her by being silly and making her smile didn't help :) I put the whole video on here so it's kinda long, but it has lots of cute smiles in it and near the end she makes some better attempts at the spoon. I won't put a video every night of the cereal eating I promise :) I'll get some new material for you all!

New noise

Last night Mckayla started making this weird new noise. At first it kinda scared me because I thought she was struggling to breathe or trying to throw up but after she kept doing it over and over and over and was very smiley with it, I figured she must just have discovered a new way to talk to us!

And here's some more cute pictures from the past couple days

First try with cereal

We tried rice cereal for the first time tonight and it went...okay. She made a funny face the very first taste but afterwards she seemed to kind of like it, she just didn't know HOW to eat it. It was so funny! She would open her mouth for it but then I'd scoop it in and she'd just sit there with her mouth wide open still and it would just fall out, or she'd kind of lick at it but push it out instead. I think she was fine with the taste, we just have to practice how to eat off a spoon! I tried it in a bottle afterwards but it didn't go through the hole and I didn't have any more milk so we just quit for the night. We'll try again tomorrow, she did pretty good for the first try!!!

sorry it's so grainy, I had to compress it so it wouldn't take all day to load on here

Fun day

Today we got a visit from Lacey, Abbey, Mimi, and Papa. It was so much fun having both girls together! Of course Mckayla's too young to play with Abbey yet, but it won't be too long and it was just fun to have them in one place! Mckayla is doing so great with tummy time now, she rolls over to her tummy ALL the time now and we can tell that she is getting stronger and stronger every day!

Here's Abbey trying out Mckayla's rocking horse (but she just had to keep her Koosh balls with her the whole time)!

A perfect Abbey-sized basket

We tried her sunglasses on her the other night and they were a perfect fit! She is just too cool with her shades on!

What a diva!

Rolling again!

She just now rolled over for the first time on the floor from her back to her tummy! YAY MCKAYLA!

4 month checkup

Today Mckayla had her 4 month well-baby checkup and I was looking forward to it to find out how much she's grown but we DREAD the shots!!! Here's her stats: she weighs 13 pounds 12 ounces and is 24 1/2 inches long. Both put her just a tiny bit above the 50th percentile, so she's right on track! However, her head size is around the 75th percentile, which isn't too surprising considering how she gets her smarts from her mama and daddy! She got 3 shots and one liquid kind that she eats (most of it she spit back out). It was so sad but she did great. I gave her Tylenol right before so when we got home she took a long nap and is playing on the floor now with her toys. The pediatrician told us that we can start rice cereal anytime between 4 and 6 months so that will be the next big step for her. I can't believe she's already big enough for foods!!! Our biggest thing to work on with her is sleeping through the night. She does pretty good (I thought) waking up only one time really at night but apparently she CAN sleep for up to 10 hours!!! Holy moly that would be amazing! So our goal is to do the let her cry thing during the night if she wakes up because supposedly after 2-3 nights of this she'll realize that she's not going to get to eat in the middle of the night and just sleep right on through! It's not that she NEEDS to eat at night, she just WANTS to and because we are feeding her at those times she continues to wake up for it each night! SO we'll see if we can handle letting her cry herself back to sleep and get her sleeping through the night!

Happy 4 month birthday Mckayla!

Our sweet little girl is growing up so fast! Today she is 4 months old! It's amazing to think how much our lives have changed in the past 4 months. Watching her grow and change is indescribable. She is so amazing and we love her more every second!

She was getting fussy just laying on the couch so I set her up to sit on the couch just like we do and she really liked it! Plus it looked so funny!

I took this holding the camera out myself and was surprised how good it turned out on the first try. Pretty cute!

Such a big girl!

This outfit was just too cute on her
Here she is on her tummy again after a good roll on the couch. She'll sit up like this for a long time now and not bobble or cry. There is lots of drooling though! We can tell that she is getting so much stronger every day. I can't believe how fast she is changing, literally every day!

Having a little reading time! Hehe ;)

Rolling back!

After she did all that rolling to her tummy, tonight she rolled from her her back to her tummy and then back to her back...twice! Still no rolling on the floor, just the couch, but we are working on it!

Rolling, rolling, rolling

She's rolled over a couple times on the couch now, not on the floor yet, but today I brought her into the living room and laid her on the couch and she just immediately rolled on over! She gets tired of being on her tummy so I rolled her back and she did it again....and again....and again! It was soooo cute! She's growing so fast!

Here's some tummy pics from after all the rolling

More fun!

She was laying in my lap here just playing and being her cute self!

She loves the giraffes legs, she just feels them all with her fingers!

Sleeping beauty

We got her this seahorse for Valentine's Day. It's like a gloworm, it's belly lights up and it plays lots of different songs. She was playing with it's belly here

Yummy fingers!

She loves grabbing at all her toys now, it's so fun to watch her play now!!!

Visit from Mimi

Mimi (my mom) came over after work today to give Mckayla her Valentine's Day present! She got her a big stuffed toy bird that makes chirping noises and some yummy candy for mommy to give to her later in her next meal :) She also brought us some stuff Lacey gave to her to give to us, like some of my old books and an exersaucer for her to play in. She so little in it I just can't help but laugh! She seemed somewhat interested in it though!

Play time

No I'm not letting her suffocate herself, she loves to eat her burp cloth! Maybe she smells milk on it...
She really attacks it!
Hi!

Cutie Pie

More random pictures of our sweetie:

I'm sad because she's grown out of a lot of her 0-3 month size stuff and some of it she hasn't ever even worn!!! I'm sad! So I put it on her anyway and the pants and sleeves are a bit short!

This picture is funny because anything in her hands reach now she grabs and usually tries to stuff in her mouth and I put her on this blanket and she instantly grabbed the corners and almost wrapped herself up!

I'm sad this picture turned out so blurry because it was so cute how she was almost hugging her birdie!

Pootsies

Chris and I were getting ready to go eat with Matt and Wendi last night and Mckayla was laying on the bed just talking away so of course we had to stop and play with her! Too cute to resist! Sometimes she blows little raspberries and Chris tells her thats what her little poots sound like. In fact as I am typing this she is blowing raspberries at me!

More fun

Here's another picture of her having fun with her birdie!

We went to Matt and Wendi's house last night and they had Emily's bumbo chair sitting out so I tried Mckayla in it and she did pretty good! I think it will be a better way to get her to strengthen her neck since she HATES tummy time sooo much.
