4 month checkup

Today Mckayla had her 4 month well-baby checkup and I was looking forward to it to find out how much she's grown but we DREAD the shots!!! Here's her stats: she weighs 13 pounds 12 ounces and is 24 1/2 inches long. Both put her just a tiny bit above the 50th percentile, so she's right on track! However, her head size is around the 75th percentile, which isn't too surprising considering how she gets her smarts from her mama and daddy! She got 3 shots and one liquid kind that she eats (most of it she spit back out). It was so sad but she did great. I gave her Tylenol right before so when we got home she took a long nap and is playing on the floor now with her toys. The pediatrician told us that we can start rice cereal anytime between 4 and 6 months so that will be the next big step for her. I can't believe she's already big enough for foods!!! Our biggest thing to work on with her is sleeping through the night. She does pretty good (I thought) waking up only one time really at night but apparently she CAN sleep for up to 10 hours!!! Holy moly that would be amazing! So our goal is to do the let her cry thing during the night if she wakes up because supposedly after 2-3 nights of this she'll realize that she's not going to get to eat in the middle of the night and just sleep right on through! It's not that she NEEDS to eat at night, she just WANTS to and because we are feeding her at those times she continues to wake up for it each night! SO we'll see if we can handle letting her cry herself back to sleep and get her sleeping through the night!

?What is the liquid stuff? I've never encountered or heard of that. So, how is the crying it out thing working for ya?

Rotateq is the liquid one that is a vaccination against Rotavirus. The crying it out is still a work in progress. We've had her cry herself to sleep the past few nights and it hasn't taken long at all. Last night we let her cry the 2 times she woke up in the middle of the night and she was back to sleep in less than 10 minutes each time. I just gave her the pacifier without her seeing me. We'll see how it keeps going though!

When Emily had the Rotateq the nurse gave it to her with a
Dum-Dum sucker. She said it had a salty flavor to it and babies prefer a sweeter taste. That's why she gave it to her with the sucker.
