Ballerina Mckayla

We've been saying for a long time how we needed to put Mckayla in dance classes and we finally did it! I found a company that is less hard core and strict and seems like a more relaxed beginner class. They don't require you to participate in the recital in the spring but if she likes it still after this fall we will do the recital too. Classes are 45 minutes long, once a week. We were very fortunate too that Aunt Lacey had tons of dance clothes and shoes already that we could use! We tried to get her excited about class but it wasn't until Lacey brought the clothes over and Mckayla tried it all on that she got super excited! She practiced all her "moves" and read all her ballet books before bed that night. So the next morning she was more than ready to go when it was time for class! I think I was just as excited as she was!!
The classes are at a fitness facility about a mile and a half from our house and when we got there the people at the front desk looked at us like we were crazy when we asked where the dance class was being held at. Chris and I had a major "oh no" feeling thinking the class was cancelled or moved and Mckayla wasn't going to be able to have class that day. It would have broken her heart! Thankfully I had a phone number of the lady who organizes the classes so I called her and she was that at the gym and directed us to the class. However, upon finding the class, we were quite surprised to find that Mckayla was the ONLY dancer there! The instructor said the Saturday class was a new class and that she thought most people were out of town for the holiday weekend. SO Mckayla got a one on one lesson! This turned out to be WONDERFUL because not only did we get front row seats to watch and take pics/video, but she was able to really see the teacher and focus on following directions and doing the dances. The teacher was SO nice and Mckayla had a great time dancing. Not to brag but Mckayla did SO well with all the moves and dances! I think she really is a natural. I just hope she continues to love it because I think she could go a long way with dance!!! Here's some pictures I got and a couple videos of some of the dances. If you are ever at our house I can show you many more videos if you want :)
